Abstract
Mercury pollution in waters is mostly caused by industrial waste with excessive amount of mercury. The normal amount of mercury in body is bel(lw (J. I ppm. Andthe limit (If the amount (If mercury in waters is ought to be only OJJ05ppm. (bttp:llwww.pdpersi.co.idJ The mercury waste which is dumped into waters is the one which is more dangerous, because after the mercury becomes waste and enters waters, then it will easily make a bond with chlor in seawater. The bondwilh chlor which is caltedinorganiC mercury wilfeasily enler plankton, andean easily move into other liv.ing crearures in sea, then wi! be transformed intn organic mercury (meli! mercury), which in_ thisform can be absorbed more easily by body. (lJttp:llwww.jawapos.co.id) separating technology using membrane itselfnas made a sfgnijicant progress in recent years. Electrodialysis. process removes ions flom water by pushing it through membrane with DC current. This technology is choosen because of it's low cost, it's low energy consumption, it's simplicity, it's environmentfriendly trait. It a/so tfoesn't neea adiiitional ingredients like extractor, and- tfoesn't neeaenergy (ca/or), which is also q.uite sensitive to specij'u: products. With a high concentration reauction (conversion %). that is 88.5197%, electrodialysis moduJe is fairly able 10 reduce the concentration of diluat. For bait concentration 10 ppm, 20 ppm, 30 ppm, and 40 ppm, the largest conversion is at 12 Volt, with diluat concentration reduction success up-to-88.5197% that is at bait concentration 4Oppm.
