    Abstract

    Dissolved Air Flotation System had widely used in many waste treatment application including oily wastewater from oil refinery plant, although there only a few development in a model that reviewed the effect of the reactor height which recently conducted by Aurelle. This research used flotation rate equation which developed by Aurelle in order to evaluate the effect of the reactor height. The result showed that oil removal efficiency in the reactor with 20, 50 and 80 cm of height varies from 46-89%, 47-96% and 53-94% respectively. Maximum removal efficiency of 95.65% gained at 60 psi of pressure, recirculation factor of 0.75 and reactor height of 50 cm. Removal efficiency in the reactor without recirculation at 60 psi of pressure, and 20, 50 and 80 cm of height varies from 74.24; 83.6 and 84.27% respectively. Adhesion and interception average efficiency in the reactor with 20, 50 and 80 cm of height are 7.55 x 10-2, 4.12 x 10-2 and 2.08 x 10-2 ; and at 60 psi of pressure are 6.53 x 10-2, 2.62 x 10-2 and 1.59 x 10-2 respectively. The results indicate increasing in the reactor height made decreasing in the adhesion and interception efficiency.
