Dekstrin was often used as the adhesive, like for the stamp adhesive, the seal, and the envelope Moreover dekstrin was used in the paper industry and textile. In this research the senior officer who was used came from the roots of the taro with the aim of promoting the economical value the roots of the taro and for diversification of the material. The process that was used was the process hidrolisa with the hydrochloric acid catalyst (HCl). Totalling 20 gram the roots senior officer of the taro in mixed and was stirred until equitable with 15 ml HCl in the cup petridist afterwards was heated in autoclave with various temperature variations, time, and the concentration HCl. Results of hydrolysis of taking the form of the filtrate were cooled down, afterwards in more natrium the carbonate to neutralise the atmosphere of acid. After that was carried out by the analysis qualitatively by dropping the solution iodine and the analysis quantitatively with the use of the polarimeter. The roots senior officer of the taro could dihidrolisis in a limited way to dekstrin that could be used as the adhesive. The conversion of the senior officer into dekstrin increased with the temperature increase, time, and the concentration. However at the time of the temperature, the concentration, and specific time, the conversion will experience the decline that result in by terhidrolisa him the senior officer further became the simpler compound. The decline turning-point in the conversion generally happens in the temperature 110oC, the concentration HCl 1 N, and time 10 minutes. The relatively good condition was achieved in the condition for this operation 110oC, the concentration HCl 1 N, and time 10 minutes with the conversion of 4.8424%.
