      Abstract

      The study was based on the meaning of editorial cartoons clekit. Caricatured as a vehicle for social criticism often conveys we find in the media, In this caricature reflects the authorities are afraid of journalist , because journalist have the function of controlling or monitoring the performance of the authority which is then relayed to the society. Charles Sanders Peirce's theory argues that the mark is formed by the triangular relationship that is the sign associated with the object to which it refers, and of these relationships result in Interpretan. The method used is included in the semiotic analysis of qualitative research. Here a qualitative method using the theory of Charles Sanders Peirce, using categories that mark icon, index and symbol. The results of this study based on analysis of data obtained from clekit meaning caricature, which is the connotation of meaning - the connotation of deliberately created by the author to make the reader find the code - the code hidden within the meaning of this clekit caricature drawing. The authors provide a new ideology or perceptions and different in this clekit caricature drawings.
