      Abstract

      Communication between parent and child should be built in harmony to instill in children a good education. The poor quality of parent-child communication is bad for the family unity and harmony. As an example, the factors causing the child to join the emo community which is the result of poor interpersonal communication that exists within the family. The attitude of research used in this study was descriptive study with qualitative data types. Descriptive research is the systematic study describing the facts or characteristics of certain populations or certain areas of the factual and accurate. The technique will be used to collect primary data source is the in-depth interviews (in-debt interviews) that generates data in the form of words and actions. Based on data analysis and discussion of research results, it can be argued that there are 3 types of communication patterns on parents with children who are members of the emo community in Surabaya, the Authoritarian, Authoritative, and Permissive. However, an outline of this study was shown that two parents with children who are members of the community in Surabaya embrace emo Autharitarian communication patterns, while single- family communication patterns adopted Authoritative and embrace the rest of the family communication patterns Premissive. Communication patterns that should be used in children's parents who are members of the community in Surabaya is emo Authoritative communication patterns or patterns of democratic communication. So that interpersonal communication between parent and child can be well established as a communicator and maintain a harmonious relationship of understanding, and compassion will bring about the development of good behavior. communication is a form of pattern of relationships between two people or more in the process of sending and receiving messages messages linking the two components, namely a picture or a plan that includes measures on a aktitas with components that are an important part of the communication links between individuals or groups and the organization. Emo is a form of meaning a decline of the ideology of a subculture (skinhead-punk) that had been having an anti-establishment ideology as a form of resistance against the luxury, the laws are always oppress the small.
