      Abstract

      Purpose of this research is to explore about the meaning of “Oom Pasikom” cartoon to corruption case inside the development of Wisma Atlet SEA Games at Jakabaring, Palembang, South Sumatera in opinion article edition Saturday, February 11 2012. The writer is using the following theories, newspaper as a mass communication, cartoon picture as a communication proccess and social critic, semiotic theory and the Triangle of Meaning theory by Charles Sanders Pierce. The writer is using qualitative-descriptive method by using semiotic approach in this research with the “oom pasikom” cartoon as research object at Saturday, February 11 2012 edition. Corpus of this research is “Oom Pasikom” cartoon at Kompas, Saturday, February 11 2012 edition about the case of Wisma Atlet Hypothesis in this research is, this cartoon criticize about corruption case inside the development of Wisma Atlet SEA Games at Jakabaring, Palembang which is dragging several names of elites in the Demokratic Party, one of them is ex-general secretary vice of the democratic party, Angelina Sondakh. Keywords : Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic theory, Oom Pasikom cartoon, Wisma Atlet corruption case.
