    Abstract

    Water is a basic requirement, that quality must have the physical, chemical, microbiological and radioactivity. One of the chemical water quality requirements that are not allowed in clean water containing Ferrum and manganese concentrations exceed 1 mg / l and 0.5 mg / l which will cause problems such as causing the color, taste and smell in water, causing the crust to the equipment and place blockage of the piping system. The purpose of this study was to determine the performance of aeration tower and the differences influence the amount of aeration tray effective in lowering the concentration of iron and manganese in ground water up to in accordance with quality standards. Obtained from research conducted in the aeration tower system's ability to set aside the concentration of ferrum (Fe) is best at Fe concentration of 8 mg / l with removal of 83.3% and the decrease in the concentration of manganese (Mn) is the Mn concentration of 0.64 mg / l an allowance amounting to 96.8%.
