    Abstract

    Epicatechin gallate (ECG) is one of bio active compound which is found in Camellia sinensis. The problem for getting ECG from a plant is that because of the harvest of the compound needs to wait until the age of the plant is about 5 to 10 years, besides it has to be planted in the land of 800-2000m height. The study of forming cell suspension culture is conducted to decrease this kind of problem because this technique is more effective since it does not depend on the height of land. The research methods include: (1) callus induction by planting the explant of the leaf tip cut of Camelia sinensis on media with growth controller substances auxinsitokinin, (2) callus subculture on the same media and growth controller substances, (3) induction of ECG accumulation on cell suspension culture by using elicitor, (4) Qualitative ECG identification, (5) the result of suspension culture research is hoped containing ECG as antioxidant candidate.
