    Abstract

Wastewater treatment process which is often used is the adsorption process, because this process is not too complicated processing, besides that it is also the material used to adsorb easily on Facebook, as well as the lowest operational cost. Many materials will be used as absorbent, one of which is coal. Besides used as fuel was coal can also be used as an ingredient pengadsorbsi. The purpose of this research is to know or learn the amount of coal capacity in reducing metal content Cr2+ dan Fe2 in the steel industry waste. Adsorbs process carried out by flowing the waste of container vessel into a pipe reactor which contains coal as adsorbent with continuous flow. This research will study the effect of coal as an adsorbent to reduce the concentration of heavy metals chromium and iron in a reactor pap (column) in a variety of flow rate with a variable as follows: High bed (cm): 20, 25, 30, 35, 40; Rate Flow (ml / min): 35, 50, 65, 80, 95. The results of this study indicate that decreasing the concentration of chromium best, that is equal to 51.90 mg / L with% absorption of 64.84% while the best concentration of iron metal, that is equal to 56.28 mg / L with% absorption of 42.18%. This result was obtained at a flow rate of 35 ml / min and the height of the bed 40 cm.
