Abstract

This research are 1) Analyzing the import of sugar in the province of East Java, and predict the amount of imported sugar in East Java for the next 5 years, 2) Analyze the effect of variable demand and supply on sugar imports in East Java Province, 3) Knowing the factors that affect the import of sugar in the province of East Java. Analysis used to answer the first objective, namely using linear trend analysis. While the second goal is to answer by using a simple linear regression analysis and to answer the third objective using multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the analysis and discussion of this study, it can be concluded as follows : 1) In the years 1998-2012 the trend has increased sugar imports and for the next 5 years also increased sugar imports, 2) There is a significant effect of the variable demand, while variable offers no significant effect on sugar imports in East Java Province, 3) factors that affect the import of sugar in the province of East Java, among others, production, population, population income, foreign exchange rates and the price of imported sugar Keywords : production, population, population income, foreign exchange rates, the price of sugar imports, and domestic sugar price.
