Abstract
Active charcoal can be made and candlenut shell, what in this time still in the form of waste. Candlenut shell processing as charcoal active is one of easy way to add economic point. Active charcoal made with process of carbonation low temperature in furnace. Charcoal result of the pirolisis then activated with strong acid, afterwards analysed the active charcoal absorption of Fe provision contained in well water. Active charcoal quality clings to carbonation process and activation process. In this research activator which is used is H2SO4 with concentration 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9% and soaking time 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24 hours. Research can be concluded that best result wich is on carbonation temperature 400 o C up to 1 hours, soaking time 24 activator hour and concentration 9%, resulting the best adsorption of Fe on well water of 91,38%.
